At Elephant Lodge, our commitment extends beyond providing a memorable stay; we aim for a lasting impact on the environment and the communities we engage with. As a true eco-lodge, environmental sustainability and social responsibility are at the core of our values.
Powered solely by solar energy, our lodge boasts one of the largest solar battery systems in Tanzania. We’ve implemented biogas production to convert waste into cooking fuel, fostering a circular approach to resource utilization. Actively engaged in reforestation efforts on Sangaiwe lands, we contribute to environmental conservation and limit human-wildlife conflicts.
In collaboration with Axel Janssens, our culinary maestro, we partner with Jobortunity to train young Tanzanians, providing them with valuable job opportunities at Elephant Lodge. Our SoulBoxes, expertly crafted by IDFabric Tanzania, share our commitment to social and ecological values. IDFabric boasts the largest industrial solar installation in Tanzania and prioritizes the use of recycled and upcycled materials, including operating their own plastics recycling line. Moreover, their recruiting program empowers single mothers through education, on-the-job training, and employment opportunities—aligning with our dedication to fostering positive change.
I would like 2 share I had an amazing adventure while staying for 2 heavenly days and nights and being pampered by Lillian as the greatest hostess she is. She felt like family she was sooo loveley to all 4 of us. Thank you Lillian. I miss you already!!!
